SUMMARY:Seminar - “Design of Pharmaceutical and Protein Crystallizers: Us
ing\nMultiphase Flow and Controlled Dynamic Operations” by Mo Jiang\, Ph
 D\,\nChemical Engineering\, Massachusetts Institute of Technology\,\nCambr
 idge\, MA
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT: Crystallization is important for pharmaceuticals\, am
ino\nacids\, and proteins. The first part of this seminar will discuss the
 \ncrystallization of small-molecule organic chemicals such as\npharmaceuti
cals and amino acids. The crystal size distribution (CSD)\ncan affect the
efficacy of drug products (such as the amount of drug\nreaching the lungs
from a nasal spray) as well as the efficiency of\ndownstream processes suc
 h as filtration and milling.
