SUMMARY:Seminar - “Biomaterials Topography for Stem Cell Regulation and\n
Tissue Engineering Applications”\, Evelyn KF Yim\, Department of\nBiomed
 ical Engineering\, Mechanobiology Institute Singapore\, Department\nof Sur
 gery\, National University of Singapore
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT:  Stem cells respond to both physical and biochemical
\nchanges in their stem cell niche. An ideal scaffold for tissue\nengineer
ing application should mimic the microenvironment for natural\ntissue deve
lopment and present the appropriate biochemical and\ntopographical cues in
a spatially controlled manner. Studies have\nshown that physical forces f
rom the substrate topography play a role\nin stem cell proliferation\, mig
 ration and cell fate determination.
