SUMMARY:Seminar - “Carbon-Based Nanomaterials Studies at PPL: Tuning\nSyn
thesis Process to Applications (Graphene\, Carbon Nanotubes\, and\nNanoflu
 ids)” by J.-L. Meunier\, Professor\, Department of Chemical\nEngineering
\, Plasma Processing Laboratory (PPL)\, McGill
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT:  Thermal plasma (TP) reactors are used extensively f
or the\ngeneration of particles having specific compositions or phase\nstr
uctures\, while nanoparticles (NPs) are also being generated using\nprecur
sors that are either in the gas phase\, in liquid solutions or\neven somet
imes in the solid phase. More difficult is the controlled\nhomogeneous nuc
leation of pure nanomaterials\, or controlled two-step\nsystems for hetero
geneous nucleation of materials such as carbon\nnanotubes (CNTs). One mate
rial of strong interest is the\nbi-dimensional structure of graphene.
