SUMMARY:Seminar | Unconventional Polymer Fabrication - from Bioinspired\nAd
hesives to Multi-Material 3D Printing\, by Dan Sameoto
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Sameoto will provide an overview of several technologies de
veloped\nby his lab. The techniques combine novel manufacturing processes
 to\nproduce polymer-based products ranging from gecko-inspired adhesives\n
to stretchable electronics and soft robotics. Combining different\nresear
ch disciplines\, including micro- and nanofabrication\, with\nlarger scale
3D-printing technologies has opened up new opportunities\nfor the manufa
cturing of new smart materials\, bio-inspired surfaces\nand wearable elect
ronics. Highlights include direction sensitive\nadhesives for pick-and-pl
 ace assembly\, mechanically reprogrammable\nsoft robots\, and multi-materi
al FDM additive manufacturing processes\nthat can print hard plastics\, ru
bbers and stretchable metal wires in a\nsingle part.
