Chemical Engineering Receiving

Hours

Chemical Engineering Receiving hours are in the afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. During this time the people that have received something will be called to come and pick up their parcels. We are located on the first floor of the Douglas Wright Engineering Building (DWE), room 1510.

Orders

In order to purchase items from outside suppliers you will have to get either a purchase requisition form (PDF) or a systems contract requisition form (PDF) (depends on supplier) from the main office or your supervisor. Chemical Engineering Receiving has a small collection of supplier catalogues to make your purchasing easier. When filling out a purchase requisition or a systems contract please include your name and your phone extension in the "deliver to" fields.

Receiving

Most items ordered with a purchase order or systems contract will be shipped to Central Stores and delivered to Chemical Engineering Receiving. When compressed gas cylinders are purchased for research they too will arrive at Chemical Engineering Receiving and be placed in a temporary storage locker. Chemical Engineering Receiving also has a refrigerator to temporarily hold received perishables. If the person's name and phone extension are on the receiving report they will be notified that something has arrived. Sometimes depending on personnel and time constraints the parcels may be delivered directly by Chemical Engineering Receiving staff.

Waste

Chemistry Stores provides a pick-up program, that allows people to dispose of waste chemicals. Waste pick-up from Department of Chemical Engineering is scheduled on Tuesdays at 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm in DWE 1510 and 2:00 pm to 2:20 pm in Engineering 6 (E6) 1022.

Please have your containers labelled, in full, prior to arrival. Containers should be clean and free of contaminants on the outside surface and transported without the use of gloves, as gloves are not allowed outside the labs. When you do arrive, I will ask you to classify the waste as either acid, base, flammable, oxidizer or toxic. For the bio-waste containers, the yellow bag inside must be tied closed.
