E6 4022 Crestron AV Source/Destination switch panel

You should see the screen image above  on the Crestron Panel on the podium of E6 4022. If you do not and it appears grey or black simply touch the screen to awaken it to display the image above. If this image is not subsequently displayed then please contact R. Singh x33139 r5singh@uwaterloo.ca or the main office staff in E6 3024 for assistance.

 

Presentation Scenario Podium PC to Central projector

The most commonly used scenario for this room will be displaying a presentation from the Podium PC or guest laptop to the central projector. To do this on the podium PC  simply

  1. Click the down arrow on the screen switch on the podium to drop the central screen down and then touch the ON/OFF button below the Central Projector Icon and wait approximately 1 minute for the projector to display an image on the screen. The ON/OFF button turns Yellow to indicate ON. Black is off.
  2. Logon to the podium PC with your Nexus account and arrange your presentation on the podium monitor.
  3. Touch the Podium PC Primary source icon then touch the Central Projector Icon to direct the output of the podium pc to the central projector. The text "Primary Podium PC" should appear in the black box of the Central Projector icon . Wait a few seconds and the podium monitor image will display on the central projector screen.

When you have completed your presentation please touch the System Off icon in the bottom right corner of the panel to turn off all devices, connections and reset the system for the next presenter

 

To present a guest device/laptop image on the central projector do the following:

  1. Click the down arrow on the screen switch on the podium to drop the central screen down and then touch the ON/OFF button below the Central Projector Icon and wait approximately 1 minute for the projector to display an image on the screen.
  2. Connect your guest device  to one of the HDMI, Display Port or VGA cables on the side of the podium, setup your display image/presentation on your laptop screen and ensure that the guest device is directing the guest device video output out the appropriate port of the device.
  3. Touch one of the Guest HDMI, Guest Display POrt, Guest VGA icons depending the HDMI, Display Port or VGA cable you connected to your guest device and then touch the Central Projector icon. The text Guest HDMI, or Guest Display Port or Guest VGA will appear in the balck box of the Central Projector icon. Wait a few seconds and the laptop image will display on the central projector.

For other presentation scenarios including the use of the side projector and details of the touch panel elements please read the information below. Any source can be directed to any destination for presentation flexibility.

 The following is a description of the sections of the Crestron panel and how to use it to direct the video sources to their desired destinations.

Video Output/Destinations

The top row of icons of of this Creston panel display in E6 4022 lists the 4  available output devices :

  1. A central projector and screen.
  2. A right side ( audience perspective)  projector and screen
  3. Left podium PC monitor
  4. Right Podium PC monitor

The podium PC monitor is a single monitor with split screen capability for left and right  , primary and secondary images respectively.

Below each projector are ON/OFF buttons and Video Mute buttons that turn on/off each projector and mute the video image for each projector.

Video Inputs/Sources

There are 5 possible sources listed by the icons/buttons on the bottom row of the panel image above and described below from left to right :

  1. Podium PC Primary - this is the primary video output from the podium PC which is connected by default to the left  podium monitor panel.
  2. Podium PC secondary  - this is the secondary video output from the podium PC and is set by default to be an extension of the primary podium pc output but it is not connected to the podium PC right monitor panel by default so you must select this if you want to use a secondary image on the podium PC monitor. Any PC application window that you drag to the right of the primary podium PC left monitor will be displayed in the right panel of the monitor
  3. Guest HDMI - this is the guest laptop/computing device HDMI connection. You provide this source with a guest supplied Laptop/computing device plugged into the HDMI cable on the side of the podium.
  4. Guest Display Port - this is the guest laptop/computing device Display Port connection. You provide this source with a guest supplied Laptop/computing device plugged into the DisplayPort cable on the side of the podium.
  5. Guest VGA - this is the guest laptop/computing device VGA connection. You provide this source with a guest supplied Laptop/computing device plugged into the VGA cable on the side of the podium.

Help, Audio and System Off buttons

The Help button displays some secondary screens with some  instructions for using the panel.

The Audio button is currently non functional. Audio is currently available from the Podium PC only and is directed by default to the Podium speakers. Future modifications will allow for audio input and output selection from either the podium pc or the guest device to the podium speakers.

The System Off button should be used at the end of every presentation. This button shuts down the system, resets all connections, restarts the system and then displays the main screen on the touch panel. Doing this ensures that the next presenter sees a consistent touch panel interface each time they start their presentation.

 

Turning ON/OFF projectors

To turn on one or both of the projectors touch the ON/OFF button below each projector icon. The ON/OFF button will turn yellow to indicate it is on and black if it is off. When you power up a projector it will take approximately 1 minute to display an image on the screen.

To mute the projector video image click the Display Mute button below a projector icon . The button turns yellow and flashes indicating that projector is muted. To resume video display touch the Display Mute button again. The button turns black to indicate the projector is no longer in the mute state.

Directing Video Sources to Destinations

To direct a video source to any destination simply touch the source icon then touch the destinaton icon for that source. The desination icon image will display the name of the source it is connected to. For example to connect the Podium PC primary to the central projector touch the Podium PC primary icon then touch the central projector icon. The Podium PC primary icon turns yellow and the Central projector icon displays Podium PC primary.

You can direct any source to any destination at any time. To clear all connections between sources and destinations touch the "Clear all" button in the bottom right hand corner of the touch panel.

Other Common Presentation Scenarios

Present a Podium PC image to  the  Side Projector so you can use White Board simultaneously

  1. Logon to the podium PC and setup the image on the monitor( left panel for primary Podium PC).
  2. Turn on the side projector and manually pull down the side screen.
  3. Touch the Podium PC Primary icon then touch the Side Projector icon.

Present a Podium PC image to  both the Central and Side Projectors 

  1. Logon to the podium PC and setup the image on the monitor( left panel for primary Podium PC).
  2. Turn on both projectors.
  3. Touch the Podium PC Primary icon then touch the Central Projector icon. Then touch the Podium PC Primary icon again and then touch the Side Projector Icon.

Present Podium PC Primary to Central Projector and Podium PC Secondary to Side Projector

In this scenario a primary podium PC image eg. Power point presentation is presented on the central projector and a secondary image eg Web page or Video is displayed via the Windows extended desktop to the side projector :

  1. Logon to the podium PC .
  2. Turn on both projectors by touching the ON/OFF buttons below each projector icon on the touch panel
  3. Touch the Podium PC Secondary icon on the touch panel and then touch the Right monitor icon to direct the podium pc secondary video output to the right half of the podium monitor
  4. Open your primary presentation image eg PowerPoint presentation then open another window for the secondary image eg a Web Browser .
  5. Left click and hold and Drag the title bar of the secondary image window to the right until it fills the right monitor panel
  6. Touch the Podium PC primary icon on the touch panel then touch the central projector icon to direct the primary image to the central projector.
  7. Touch the Podium PC secondary icon then touch the Side Projector Icon on the touch panel to direct the secondary image to the side projector.

There are many other scenarios but the above are the most common. The podium pc has two video outputs so it can do more than most laptops/guest devices  but if your guest device supports 2 video outputs then you can use these outputs to direct separate images to the central projector and side projector.
