The Periodic Table Project has been a great succeswith the free tablet apps having almost 50,000 users. The Periodic Table Project App is available for Apple, Blackberry and Android devices.

Chem 13 News magazine is running a contest to design tiles for the four newly named elements, nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), tennessine (Ts) and oganesson (Og). Over 200 submissions have been received and the decision process has begun.  See the new elements contest page for more details.  On April 21, the top ten design were posted.  On May 1, the final four design for each element will be announced. Online voting begins in May 2017. Check back and vote.

University of Waterloo Neodymium-60 Anniversary Project

Neodymium-60 elemental tile with University of Waterloo logos and datesWe are inviting everyone with a connection to the University of Waterloo to design a square tile that showcases the University of Waterloo and includes the symbol Nd-60 for the university’s neodymium (atomic number 60) anniversary. We will create a mosaic of science and art for a public display on campus.
