The University of Waterloo is organizing another collaborative project!
To celebrate 2019 International Year of the Periodic Table, teachers and educators applied for an element to design (applications have closed). Our goal is to have chemistry students from around the world join together to create an original and imaginative version of the Timeline of Elements focused on their discovery.
To celebrate 2011 International Year of Chemistry, we organized a student-designed collaborative The Periodic Table Project. The project was a great success, resulting in a poster, wall mural and free mobile app.
Chem 13 News magazine ran a contest to design tiles for the four newly named elements. See the new elements contest winners.

Launched by NASA on board the Canadian satellite SCISAT in 2003, the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) was intended for a two-year mission. Fifteen years later, ACE is still providing excellent spectra which provide vital chemical and physical data about our atmosphere, particularly the ozone layer.
