The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019). To celebrate, we decided to take a different approach to the table and deconstruct it into the years the elements were discovered. Our Timeline of Elements project has brought together students from 118 schools in 28 countries. Each school has submited an original tile telling the discovery story for their element, from hydrogen to oganesson.
Keep visiting over the next two months as we reveal this amazing and creative artwork for all 118 elements - two elements a day over the next 59 school days. Participants are also tweeting their inspiring images through #TimelineofElements. Meanwhile, we will be assembling the original artwork into a Timeline of Elements poster, wall mural and website.
