Imagine having only 1 static slide and 3 minutes to explain the breadth and significance of your research to a non-specialist audience.
The Three Minute Thesis was first established in 2008 by the University of Queensland (UQ) as a research communication competition that cultivates students' presentation and communication skills and provides them with invaluable networking opportunities. Today, more than 600 universities across 65 countries worldwide host 3MT competitions.
Since 2013 the 3MT competition has been going strong at Waterloo, with more than 1000 students taking part in the competition over the years. Waterloo has produced provincial, and even national, champions.
