Abstract: With the emerging demand for the construction of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) for obtaining high efficiency, obtaining a suitable dye is a challenge. Efforts are going on to engineer various dyes taking into consideration various factors into account. The changing scenario from the Ruthenium complex to metal free organic dyes has been taken up well with the scientific community but yet to achieve the glory enabling it as a open field to take up as a research endeavour. The talk will be covering various categories of dyes that so far being proposed/used and what are the challenges remain unsolved.
