Abstract:  Introduction of many surface-functionalized hybrid engineered materials in the field of water remediation is expected not only to immobilize many toxins but also to regenerate without causing any environmental concerns.  Iron oxide is one such nanomaterial, and is inexpensive and amphoteric in nature for adsorbing both cations and anions. These materials are also explored for degradation of many organic toxins and bacteria due to its catalytic nature.  Due to phase transition ability of these materials the adsorbed toxin can be regenerated. Thus, these materials may lead in future to complete solution in remediation field, upon proper surface functionalization and creating high adsorption sites in ordered array structures.  In this talk, we will discuss the development of in-situ hybridisation of Fe/Ti oxide nano materials as a simple synthetic approach for synergistic application for water treatment.
