Winners of the Don E. Irish Graduate Award announced

The Department of Chemistry would like to announce this year's award winners for the Don E. Irish Graduate Award: Songhao Bao (Nooijen), Meixin Cheng (Sciaini), Feng Li (Klinkova), Frank Guan (Leung), and Hunter Little (Duhamel)

The honour is awarded annually to “full-time graduate students completing their graduate degree in the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science on the basis of demonstrated excellence. “

Nanotechnology engineering instructor Laura Deakin and pharmacist Nardine Nakhla have been awarded the Faculty of Science's 2020 Excellence in Science Teaching Award for their innovative and engaging teaching methods.

Chemistry’s newest professor will research drug design and protein engineering

Growing up in India, Subha Kalyaanamoorthy followed her love of learning new scientific discoveries and emerging technologies, into the emerging field of bioinformatics. Her passion for bioinformatics research has ultimately led Kalyaanamoorthy to the University of Waterloo, as the newest faculty member in the Department of Chemistry.

Ontario government awards $2 million for early career researchers and infrastructure

Fifteen University of Waterloo researchers will receive $2 million from the provincial government to advance Ontario’s knowledge-based economy.

Mike Harris, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga, and Amy Fee, MPP for Kitchener South-Hespeler, announced 11 Early Researcher Awards (ERA) and four Ontario Research Fund-Research Infrastructure (ORF-RI) awards today. The announcement is part of a larger investment by the Province of Ontario aimed at advancing Ontario’s competitive edge.
