Graduating Chemistry students celebrated with awards

Two Chemistry graduate students received special awards today as part of the Faculty of Science's Convocation ceremonies.

Jarrod Michael Psutka (advisors: S. Hopkins, T. Dieckmann) received the Dean of Science Award, which recognizes creative research as presented in a student’s Master’s thesis. The following Science students were also honoured: Benjamin Jean-Marie Tremblay (Biology), Stacey Parmenter (Earth and Environmental Sciences), Mariko Hirano (Optometry and Vision Science), Alexandra Maria Durocher (Pharmacy), and Sainath Motlakunta (Physics and Astronomy).

The W.B. Pearson Medal, whichrecognizes the creative research as presented in a student’s Doctoral thesis, went to Jonathan Grandy (advisor: Janusz Pawliszyn). This year's honorees also included Xinda Lu (Biology), Adrian Mellage (Earth and Environmental Sciences), Emmanuel Borquaye Alabi (Optometry and Vision Science), Roger Ding-Wen Chen (Pharmacy), and Olivia Di Matteo (Physics and Astronomy).
