Graduating Chemistry students honoured for excellence in research

Two Chemistry graduate students received special awards today as part of the Faculty of Science's Convocation ceremonies.

David Beriashvili (advisor: M. Palmer) received the Dean of Science Award - M.Sc., which recognizes outstanding performance. The following Science students were also honoured: Sarah Barwell (Biology), Mohammad Roostaie (Earth and Environmental Sciences), Jill Wood (Optometry and Vision Science), Haein Huh (Pharmacy), and Patrick Daley (Physics and Astronomy).

The W.B. Pearson Medal - Ph.D. recognizes creative research as presented in a student's thesis. The award was established in honour of Professor W.B. Pearson and his contributions as a University of Waterloo research scientist and teacher. This year's award in Chemistry went to Tijana Vasiljevic (advisor: Janusz Pawliszyn). Honorees also included Mike Mansfield (Biology), Mohana Kuppuswamy Parthasarathy (Optometry and Vision Science), Alanna McEneny-King (Pharmacy), and Marika Kieferovao (Physics and Astronomy).
