University Professor Linda Nazar has been awarded the highest annual honor by the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC): the 2019 CIC Medal. According to the CIC website, “the CIC Medal is presented as a mark of distinction and recognition to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the science of chemistry or chemical engineering in Canada.”
Professor Nazar, who is an Officer of the Order of Canada and holds the Canada Research Chair in Solid State Energy Materials, is best known for her advancements in battery systems and clean energy storage. In 2018, she was named a Clarivate Analytics' (formerly Thomson-Reuters) Highly Cited Researcher in both the fields of Chemistry and Materials Science.
Professor Nazar will receive her award at the CSC Conference in Quebec City this June, where she will also give a plenary address.
