Janusz Pawliszyn
Chemistry Professor Janusz Pawliszyn was named the 9th most influential person in analytical science by Analytical Scientist’s 2019 Power List.

The list highlights the top 100 personalities that influence the field today, around the world and across academic, government and industry sectors. This is the fourth time Pawliszyn has ranked in the international survey since it began in 2013.

Pawliszyn, a Senior NSERC Industrial Research Chair since 1995, is best known for the development of solid phase microextraction (SPME), a sampling method that uses a solid coating to selectively extract specific substances.

I’ve focused on developing green technologies in analytical chemistry, such as approaches for sample preparation that facilitate the solvent-free integration of sampling with extraction,” said Pawliszyn in a quote about his career highlight on the 2019 Power List website.

Congratulations, Professor Pawliszyn!
