Veronika completed joint honours in Anthropology and Geography and Environmental Management as well as a minor in Classical Studies. She wrote her honours thesis on hunting and the use of firearms in the Franklin Expedition, where she attempted to shed some light on the reason behind the disastrous fate that befell this 19th century Arctic expedition. Apart from her keen interest in archaeology, history and past cultures, she is also quite fascinated by computers and geographic information system (GIS). Her current research is focused on open aerial mapping and the challenges and opportunities it presents.
