UW Architectural Engineering students create new playground

Playground at Elizabeth Ziegler Elementary School

The playground at Elizabeth Ziegler Elementary School has a popular new addition thanks in part to a group of four UW Architectural Engineering students from the class of 2023. Recently a new play structure was installed in the schoolyard based on the custom design created by UW students Jocelyn Cao, Rayen Feng, Jake Gu and Michael Hioe. The design was completed as part of their AE 125 Structural Design Studio course held during Spring term 2019.

Four engineering subjects crack the world's top 100

Waterloo Engineering placed two subjects in the top 50 and two more in the top 100 in worldwide university rankings for 2021.

In an evaluation of more than 1,500 global universities by media company U.S. News and World Report, electrical engineering ranked 25th and mechanical engineering was 49th.

Civil engineering was ranked 73rd and chemical engineering held the 87th spot. Click here to continue reading this story.

Prof wins international recognition for her water work

A professor at Waterloo Engineering has been honoured by an international organization for Earth and space scientists.

Nandita Basu is the 2020 winner of the Sulzman Award for Excellence in Education and Mentoring from the American Geophysical Union (AGU).

Researchers offer insights on COVID planning impacts

Researchers from Waterloo Engineering played prominent roles at a recent virtual symposium staged by the Region of Waterloo.

A team of faculty members, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows led by Nadine Ibrahim, a civil and environmental engineering lecturer, contributed two white papers exploring the implications of COVID-19 on the region’s official planning process.
