Areas of Research
Retrieval of sea ice quantities from remote sensing data to improve our knowledge of the state of sea ice in the Arctic; investigation of information content of observational data and data fusion/data assimilation methods. Novel data-driven approaches (eg. convolutional neural networks) to extract sea ice information from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery are very promising, in particular as the volume of available SAR data is increasing.
