A lesson in balance

Apply to be part of our COP26 delegation

From October 31 to November 12, the world will gather in Glasgow for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 26th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to discuss and negotiate more ambitious action to meet the Paris Agreement commitments. On behalf of the University of Waterloo community, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) will lead a virtual delegation to COP26 to engage with governments and non-government observers from around the world. Graduate student delegate applications are now open.

IC3 members Luna Khirfan, Robert McLeman and Linda Mortsch are lead authors in the upcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC's) Working Group II report on impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. The report is due to be released on February 28, 2022 and assess the impacts and risks of climate change, looking at ecosystems, biodiversity, and human communities at global and regional levels. It will also review vulnerabilities and the capacities and limits of the natural world and human societies to adapt to climate change.
