Sarah Burch receives 2021 Clean50 Individual Award

Sarah Burch, IC3 member and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environment, receives the Clean50 Individual award for 2021. Sarah is recognized for her incredible international research partnership TRANSFORM.

The Clean50 Individual awards are selected from 16 diverse categories that transcend industries, academia, different levels of government, thought leaders and advocates, and are based on accomplishments delivered over the prior two years.

Sarah Burch headshotWorking with teams in nine countries around the world, Sarah created and is using the international research partnership TRANSFORM to build capacity among small and medium enterprises to implement sustainability experiments that help make communities more just, inclusive, and low carbon. Having received a $2.4 million grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, TRANSFORM is focused on solving complex, real-world sustainability problems in close partnership with private sector, civil society, and government partners. Since the start of the COVID pandemic, their work has shifted to examine how sustainability contributes to the resilience of businesses in response to crises.
