"Where in the World?!" Co-op Photo Contest, 2017

Winners of the Contest

We asked our participants to reflect on what inspired them to submit their photo.

1st Place: Karolina Gaebe (Work term in Singapore)

First place in 2017

Karolina says, "This photo shows the sunset from the U-Bein bridge in Mandalay, Myanmar. It shows one of the many times of my coop in Asia that simple things offered the most impressing views. This bridge was built in the 19th century and is believed to be the longest teakwood bridge in the world. It was a stunning and impressive structure, despite its simple built, and allowed me to observe the most beautiful sunset of my entire trip."

*Karolina's work term was in Singapore. The photo was taken on a short excursion she took on her own to Myanmar.

2nd Place: Zhaojia Liang (Work term in Hong Kong)

Second place winner 2017

Zhaojia says, "The photo is of the Yick Fat building in Hong Kong. I did an internship in Hong Kong in Summer 2017. It was a big shock to see a building like this, the apartments are small and densely packed, while the pragmatic architecture reflects the utilitarian austerity of postwar Hong Kong. It was amazing to see different architecture and different culture in other parts of the world."
