Abstract

Cryptosystems based on algebraic curves form one of the cornerstones of modern cryptography and represent one of the principal applications of algebraic geometry outside of mathematics. In this talk, we discuss the mathematics used in the construction of curve-based cryptosystems and compare various choices of algebraic curves from the viewpoint of cryptography and security.
