SUMMARY:Algebraic Combinatorics Seminar - Matthew Satriano
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Combinatorial questions motivated by Invariant Theory\n
 \nSpeaker:\n Matthew Satriano\n\nAffiliation:\n University of Waterloo\n\n
Room:\n MC 5417\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nWe begin the talk by discussing a question
in Invariant Theory: given\na representation $V$ of a Lie group $G$\, whe
n if the invariant ring\n$k[V]^G$ a polynomial ring? We give a conjectural
answer which we have\nverified for $SL_n$ and discuss some combinatorial
questions motivated\nby the proof. This is joint work with Dan Edidin.
