SUMMARY:Tutte Colloquium - Hamza Fawzi
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Semidefinite programming representations for separable
states\n\nSpeaker:\n Hamza Fawzi\n\nAffiliation:\n University of Cambridg
e\n\nZoom:\n Please email Emma Watson\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nThe set of separabl
 e (i.e.\, non-entangled) bipartite states is a\nconvex set that plays a fu
ndamental role in quantum information\ntheory. The problem of optimizing a
linear function on the set of\nseparable states is closely related to po
lynomial optimization on the\nsphere. After recalling the sum-of-squares h
ierarchy for this problem\,\nI will show bounds on the rate of convergence
of this SDP hierarchy\;\nand prove that the set of separable states has
 no SDP representation\nof finite size.
