SUMMARY:CANCELLED Tutte Colloquium - Chloe Martindale
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Constructing broken SIDH parameters: a tale of De Feo\,
  Jao\,\nand Plut's serendipity.\n\nSpeaker:\n Chloe Martindale\n\nAffiliat
ion:\n University of Bristol\n\nZoom:\n This event has been cancelled.\n\n
ABSTRACT:\n\nThis talk is motivated by analyzing the security of the crypt
ographic\nkey exchange protocol SIDH (Supersingular Isogeny Diffie-Hellman
)\,\nintroduced by 2011 by De Feo\, Jao\, and Plut. We will first recall s
ome\nmathematical background as well as the protocol itself. The 'keys' in
\nthis protocol are elliptic curves\, which are typically described by\neq
 uations in x and y of the form y^2 = x^3 + ax + b. Of importance in\nthis
talk will be 'endomorphisms' associated to elliptic curves: these\nare fun
ctions that map an elliptic curve to itself which also satisfy\nsome nice
 properties.
