SUMMARY:Algebraic Graph Theory Seminar - William J. Martin
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Scaffolds\n\nSpeaker:\n William J. Martin\n\nAffiliatio
 n:\n Worcester Polytechnic Institute\n\nZoom:\n Contact Soffia Arnadottir\
n\nABSTRACT:\n\nBuilding on the work of various authors who have used tens
ors in the\nstudy of association schemes and spin models\, I propose the t
erm\n\"scaffold\" for certain tensors that have been represented by what a
re\nsometimes called \"star-triangle diagrams\" in the literature. The mai
n\ngoal of the talk is to introduce and motivate these objects which\nsome
what resemble partition functions as they appear in combinatorics.\n(The e
xact definition is too cumbersome to include here.)
