SUMMARY:Graphs and Matroids Seminar - Erik Panzer
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: The Hepp bound of a matroid: flags\, volumes and integr
 als\n\nSpeaker:\n Erik Panzer\n\nAffiliation:\n University of Oxford\n\nZo
om:\n Contact Rose McCarty\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nInvariants of combinatorial str
uctures can be very useful tools that\ncapture some specific characteristi
cs\, and repackage them in a\nmeaningful way. For example\, the famous Tut
te polynomial of a matroid\nor graph tracks the rank statistics of its sub
matroids\, which has many\napplications\, and relations like contraction-d
eletion establish a very\nclose connection between the algebraic structure
of the invariant\n(e.g. Tutte polynomials) and the actual matroid itself.
