 theory suggested some conjectures\ninvolving interlacing relations among p
 olynomials with only real\nroots\, and Veronese sections of them. Revisit
 ing some old theorems\,\nwe find as corollaries some new lemmas which have
  been overlooked for\na long time. One of these lemmas directly implies a
  strong form of\nthe motivating conjecture.  Similar applications of the 
 other lemmas\nare anticipated. This is ongoing joint work with Christos\n
 Athanasiadis (U. Athens).
