SUMMARY:Algebraic Graph Theory Seminar - Mark Kempton
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Cospectral Vertices and Isospectral Reductions\n\nSpeak
 er:\n Mark Kempton\n\nAffiliation:\n Brigham Young University\n\nZoom:\n C
 ontact Soffia Arnadottir\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nUnderstanding cospectral vertices
in graphs is fundamental to\nunderstanding what the spectrum of the adjac
ency matrix can tell us\nabout a graph.  Furthermore\, cospectral vertice
s are necessary in\nconstructions of graphs exhibiting perfect quantum sta
te transfer.  I\nwill talk about how to recognize cospectral vertices via
a tool from\nnetwork dynamics: the isospectral reduction of a graph.  I
will\nexplore possible ways of getting new constructions of cospectral\nve
rtices by looking at isospectral reductions.
