SUMMARY:Algebraic Combinatorics Seminar - Nick Loehr
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Chain decompositions for q\,t-Catalan numbers\n\nSpeake
 r:\n Nick Loehr\n\nAffiliation:\n Virginia Tech\n\nZoom:\n Contact Karen Y
 eats\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nThe q\,t-Catalan numbers Cat_n(q\,t) are polynomials
in q and t that\nreduce to the ordinary Catalan numbers when q=t=1. These
polynomials\nhave important connections to representation theory\, algebra
ic\ngeometry\, and symmetric functions. Work of Garsia\, Haglund\, and Hai
man\nhas given us combinatorial formulas for Cat_n(q\,t) as sums of Dyck\n
vectors weighted by area and dinv. This talk narrates our ongoing\nquest f
or a bijective proof of the notorious symmetry property\nCat_n(q\,t)=Cat_n
 (t\,q).
