SUMMARY:Tutte Colloquium - Robert Morris
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Flat Littlewood Polynomials Exist\n\nSpeaker:\n Robert
Morris\n\nAffliation:\n IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada)\n\
nZoom:\n Please email Emma Watson\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nIn a Littlewood polynom
ial\, all coefficients are either 1 or -1.\nLittlewood proved many beauti
ful theorems about these polynomials over\nhis long life\, and in his 1968
monograph he stated several influential\nconjectures about them. One of
the most famous of these was inspired\nby a question of Erdos\, who asked
in 1957 whether there exist \"flat\"\nLittlewood polynomials of degree n\,
  that is\, with |P(z)| of order\nn^{1/2} for all (complex) z with |z| = 1.
