SUMMARY:Tutte Colloquium - Kanstantsin Pashkovich
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: On the approximability of the maximum cardinality stabl
 e\nmatching problem with ties  \n\nSpeaker:\n Kanstantsin Pashkovich\n\nA
 ffliliation:\n University of Waterloo\n\nZoom:\n Contact Emma Watson\n\nA
BSTRACT:\n\nThe maximum cardinality stable matching problem is central in
game\ntheory. When participants are allowed to have ties in their\nprefere
nces\, the problem of finding a stable matching of maximum\ncardinality is
NP-hard\, even when the ties are of size two. Moreover\,\nin this setting
it is UGC-hard to provide an approximation for the\nmaximum cardinality s
table matching problem with a constant factor\nsmaller than 4/3.
