 T:\n\nThe security of currently deployed public key protocols relies on th
 e\npresumed hardness of problems often coming from number theory\, such as
 \nfactoring a large integer or solving the discrete logarithm problem in\n
 some group.\n\nIn this talk we focus on discrete logarithms in finite fiel
 ds. We\nexplain what is a discrete logarithm\, why cryptographers need the
 m\,\nand we focus then on algorithms to solve the related problem\, togeth
 er\nwith open questions in this area.
