SUMMARY:Tutte Colloquium - Olya Mandelshtam
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Macdonald polynomials and the multispecies zero range p
rocess\n\nSpeaker:\n Olya Mandelshtam\n\nAffiliation:\n University of Wate
rloo\n\nZoom:\n Please email Emma Watson\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nOver the last co
uple of decades\, the theory of special functions and\nsymmetric functions
have found unexpected connections to various\ninteracting particle system
 s. Macdonald polynomials are a family of\nsymmetric functions that are kno
wn to have remarkable connections to a\nwell-studied particle model called
the ASEP. It is natural to ask\nwhether the modified Macdonald polynomial
s can be obtained using a\ncombinatorial gadget for some other particle sy
 stem.
