SUMMARY:Tutte Colloquium - Ross Kang
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Chromatic structure in locally sparse graphs\n\nSpeaker
 :\n Ross Kang\n\nAffiliation:\n Radboud University Nijmegen\n\nZoom:\n Ple
ase email Emma Watson\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nEfforts to understand the structure
of triangle-free graphs have long\nplayed a central role in the developme
nt of combinatorial mathematics.\nClassic results of Mantel (1907)\, Ramse
y (1930)\, Blanche Descartes\n(1948) produce global structure from the loc
al property of having no\nedges in any neighbourhood. Despite the scrutiny
it has sustained over\nthe decades\, study of this topic\, and its close
 relatives\, continues\nto uncover surprisingly basic challenges\, insights
and connections. I\nwill give a brief overview of the history as well as
 the focus of\ncurrent/recent momentum.
