DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Generalized Subspace Subcode with Application in Cryptol
ogy\n\nSpeaker:\n Jean Belo Klamti\n\nAffiliation:\n University of Waterlo
o\n\nAttend:\n Contact Jesse Elliott\n\nABSTRACT:\n\nMost codes with an a
lgebraic decoding algorithm are derived from\nReed-Solomon codes. They are
obtained by taking equivalent codes\, for\nexample Generalized Reed-Solom
on codes\, or by using the so-called\nsubfield subcode method\, which lead
s to Alternant codes over the\nunderlying prime field\, or over some inter
mediate subfield. The main\nadvantage of these constructions is to preserv
e both the minimum\ndistance and the decoding algorithm of the underlying
 Reed-Solomon\ncode.
