SUMMARY:Algebraic and Enumerative Combinatorics - Nathan Pagliaroli
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Colored unstable map enumeration from random noncommutat
 ive\ngeometries\n\nSPEAKER:\n Nathan Pagliaroli\n\nAFFILIATION:\n Western
 University\n\nLOCATION:\n MC 5479\n\nThere will be a pre-seminar presentin
g relevant background at the\nbeginning graduate level starting at 1pm.\n\
nABSTRACT: The enumeration of maps originates from a series of works by\nT
utte in the 1960’s. This work later went on to find uses in physics\nin
the enumeration of Feynman diagrammatic expansions of matrix\nintegrals. \
n\nIn this talk I will discuss how maps with colored edges glued from\n2-c
ells with one or two boundaries arise in recent work in the\nconstruction
of path integrals over finite dimensional noncommutative\nspaces. Explicit
formulae for the enumeration of such planar maps can\nbe found by solving
generalizations of Tutte’s equations. The\ngenerating functions of high
er genus maps can also be computed from\nplanar map generating functions u
sing a process called Topological\nRecursion. This talk is based on joint
work with Hamed Hessam and\nMasoud Khalkhali.
