 raduate level starting at 1pm.\n\nABSTRACT:  In this talk\, I will discu
 ss connections between\nconfiguration spaces\, an important class of topol
 ogical space\, and\ncombinatorial algebras arising from the theory of refl
 ection groups.\nIn particular\, I will present work relating the cohomolog
 y rings of\nsome classical configuration spaces—such as the space of n o
 rdered\npoints in Euclidean space—with Solomon’s descent algebra and t
 he\npeak algebra. The talk will be centered around two questions. \n\nFirs
 t\, how are these objects related? \n\nSecond\, how can studying one infor
 m the other? This is partially joint\nwork with Marcelo Aguiar and Vic Rei
 ner.
