SUMMARY:Algebraic & Enumerative Combinatorics - Tia Ruza
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Central Limit Theorems via Analytic Combinatorics in Se
veral\nVariables\n\nSPEAKER:\n Tia Ruza\n\nAFFILIATION:\n University of Wa
terloo\n\nLOCATION:\n MC 5479\n\nThere will be a pre-seminar presenting re
levant background at the\nbeginning graduate level starting at 1pm.\n\nABS
TRACT: Analytic combinatorics in several variables is a field of\nstudy f
ocused on the derivation of limit behaviours of multivariate\nsequences. I
n this talk\, I will describe a local central limit theorem\nand its appli
cations to a variety of examples. Included in these\nexamples will be a fa
mily of permutations with restricted cycles\,\ninteger compositions with t
racked summands and n-colour compositions\nwith tracked summands. The proo
f of this new\, automated\, local central\nlimit theorem will also be brie
fly discussed\, using techniques from\nthe theory of analytic combinatoric
s in several variables. I will also\nprovide background for proving centra
l limit theorems\nprobabilistically.
