SUMMARY:Algebraic Graph Theory - Julianna Tymoczko
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Webs and quantum representations\n\nSPEAKER:\n Julianna
Tymoczko\n\nAFFILIATION:\n Smith College\n\nLOCATION:\n Please email Sabr
ina Lato for Zoom link.\n\nABSTRACT: A web is a directed\, labeled plane
graph satisfying certain\nconditions coming from representation theory. Ea
ch web corresponds to\na specific invariant vector in a tensor product of
fundamental\nrepresentations of a quantum group. In this talk\, we introdu
ce a\nprocess called stranding\, which encodes as the monomial terms in a\
nweb’s associated vector as a collection of paths in the web graph.\n W
e also describe how the strandings connect seemingly-unrelated\nideas in c
ombinatorics (e.g. noncrossing matchings) and geometry (e.g.\ncertain alge
 braic varieties called Springer fibers).
