SUMMARY:Algebraic and enumerative combinatorics seminar-Christian Gaetz
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Hypercube decompositions and combinatorial invariance fo
 r\nKazhdan-Lusztig polynomials\n\nSPEAKER: \n Christian Gaetz\n\nAFFILIATI
 ON:\n UC Berkeley\n\nLOCATION: \n MC 5501\n\nABSTRACT: Kazhdan-Lusztig pol
ynomials are of foundational importance\nin geometric representation theor
 y. Yet the Combinatorial Invariance\nConjecture\, due to Lusztig and to Dy
er\, suggests that they only depend\non the combinatorics of Bruhat order.
I'll describe joint work with\nGrant Barkley in which we adapt the hyperc
 ube decompositions\nintroduced by Blundell-Buesing-Davies-Veličković-Wil
liamson to prove\nthis conjecture for Kazhdan-Lusztig R-polynomials in the
case of\nelementary intervals in the symmetric group. This significantly\
ngeneralizes the main previously known case of the conjecture\, that of\nl
ower intervals.\n\nTHERE WILL BE A PRE-SEMINAR PRESENTING RELEVANT BACKGRO
UND AT THE\nBEGINNING GRADUATE LEVEL STARTING AT 1PM.
