SUMMARY:Tutte colloquium-Jessica Striker
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: Rotation-invariant web bases from hourglass plabic graph
 s and\nsymmetrized six-vertex configurations\n\nSPEAKER:\n Jessica Striker
 \n\nAFFILIATION:\n North Dakota State University\n\nLOCATION:\n MC 5501\n\
nABSTRACT: Many combinatorial objects with strikingly good enumerative\nfo
rmulae also have remarkable dynamical behavior and underlying\nalgebraic s
tructure. In this talk\, we consider the promotion action on\ncertain rect
angular tableaux and explain its small\, predictable order\nby reinterpret
ing promotion as a rotation in disguise. We show how the\nsearch for this
visual explanation of combinatorial dynamics led to\nthe solution of an al
gebraic problem involving web bases and a\ngeneralization of the six-verte
x model of statistical physics. We find\nthat this framework includes seve
ral unexpected combinatorial objects\nof interest: alternating sign matric
es\, plane partitions\, and their\nsymmetry classes (joint with Ashleigh A
dams). This talk is based\nprimarily on joint work with Christian Gaetz\,
 Stephan\nPfannerer\, Oliver Pechenik\, and Joshua P. Swanson.\n\n
