 BSTRACT: Connectivity systems provide an abstract framework for\nstudying 
 various connectivity notions on graphs\, matroids\, and other\ncombinatori
 al structures. In joint work with Rutger Campbell\, we prove\na novel well
 -quasi-ordering result on certain connectivity systems\nwhich gives new ex
 cluded minor results in matroid theory and gives new\nproofs for several r
 esults in graph theory.\n\n \n\n
