Abstract:
Some of us like the primes and call ourselves pure mathematicians. Some of us like the Catalan numbers and call ourselves combinatorialists. What could possibly unite us? ... No, no, besides 2 and 5 ... What if there was a talk about the primes that divide Catalan numbers? Maybe 3, maybe 5, maybe 7, or 11---though probably not all at once. That's what we'll have, with help from Carl Pomerance's 2014 Monthly article "Divisors of the middle binomial coefficient".
