Computational discrete optimization
Bill Cook
10:00-11:20 am, Tuesday and Thursday
We will study solution techniques for problems in discrete optimization, emphazing computational aspects of the theory and algorithms.
The topics will include:
Throughout the course we will discuss how to best choose implementations to meet the demands of the given problem, including the choice of algorithms, data structures, and computing platforms.
The assignments will consist of implementation projects (students can work in groups of up to three members; it is not necessary for all students to have strong backgrounds in computer programming).

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
