Congratulations to Combinatorics and Optimization Professor Andrew Childs for being named recipient of a 2013 Outstanding Performance Fund Award. In 2003, the University of Waterloo established the Outstanding Performance Fund to reward faculty members for outstanding contribution in teaching and scholarship.
Laura Mancinska, a Combinatorics and Optimization PhD student being co-supervised by Professors Debbie Leung and Andrew Childs, is the 2013 recepient of the IQC Achievement Award. The $5,000 award is given to a graduate student with an outstanding research contribution.
David Qian, an MMath student in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, was a finalist in the University of Waterloo's Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. David's presentation "Mathematical Optimization and Skull Surgery" can be seen on YouTube.
