The Combustion Institute (Pittsburgh) is an international, non-profit, educational and scientific society whose purpose is to promote and disseminate research in combustion science.

Members of the Institute undertake fundamental and applied research to answer scientific and industrial issues related to energy generation, energy use and fire safety. Together they network, host conferences and publish the Combustion Institute Symposia and journal volumes.

The Canadian Section (CI/CS) is one of 34 sections of the Institute, and has held a Spring Technical Meeting annually since 1977.
