PLEASE NOTE: The English Language Proficiency Exam (ELPE) will not be offered past Winter 2019. The last ELPE exam session will be held in April 2019.

Engineering

As an Engineering student, you must fulfil the Communication Requirement, also referred to as the English Language Proficiency Requirement, before entering your 2B term.

You are strongly encouraged to take a communication-intensive course to meet the Communication Requirement. You have access to a selection of communication and language courses.

Software Engineering students have slightly different requirements. See the Software Engineering web page.

Architecture students have different guidelines.

In fall 2017, incoming students to Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are registered in GENE199. This course fulfills the communication requirement, so students enrolled in this course do not need to also write the ELPE.

For the most up-to-date information, please see the undergraduate calendar and/or your faculty advisor.
